How did you start your journey and begin with Maui Jim?
Traveling in my territory for hotel sales I would see Maui Jim at the different industry shows and events. Their team was always so fun to chat with that I became friends with several of them. When a position was becoming available I received three calls that really changed the trajectory that I had set for myself. I had no idea what an incredible journey awaited for me. The idea of working with my clients on a more regular basis though was very appealing. Instead of just when they came to east coast I could potentially be with them on each program. These clients have become friends now!
What’s the most interesting place your travels have taken you?
The Panama Canal and surrounding Gamboa rainforest are at the top of my list of exquisite experiences. The work that went into the canal and the amount of goods moved thru it are stunning.
What’s the best thing about owning a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses?
Watching someone who has never worn them look through them and be so surprised at how beautiful the World becomes.
What’s something people don’t know about Maui Jim that they should know?
Anti-reflective coatings are essential on BOTH sides of the lens. A lack of a/r coating on the back side of the lens causes more damage to your eyes because of the reflection that hits your dilated pupil.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received (and why)?
A framed, autographed Garth Brooks album. I was 14 and my cousin (about 25) took the time to find not only an artist I was crazy about but also to find something from them that was not readily available to the public. I was so overwhelmed that she paid attention and searched for something so unique.
If you were a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, which style would you be (and why)?
I have worn the Wiki Wiki for more years than I have been with the company. It means ‘fast’ and that is completely appropriate to how I live my life; cramming in more than is advisable!
